Shell sticks with RMR off Australia

Shell is set to continue using AGR Group's Riserless Mud Recovery (RMR) system on at least eight more wells it plans to drill in Australia's Browse basin.
The RMR is CURRENTLY being installed on the Frontier Discoverer drillship in SINGAPORE and is expected ON SITE IN APRIL.
Shell has already drilled nine wells in Australia using the technology.
The RMR is designed to re-circulate and reuse drilling fluids used when drilling top hole sections of a well.
Benefits include potential cost savings from reduced operating time – typically three to five working days – and reduced discharges to the environment.
The technology has been used to drill 59 wells for operators including BP, Shell, Total and Statoil.
As well as Asia, RMR technology it has been used in locations including the North Sea, the Barents Sea and the Caspian Sea.
