Frontier Discoverer - Typhoon Mooring System
Viking Moorings is about to install a typhoon mooring system in Western Australia
The company won an order from Shell in Australia to moor the drill ship Frontier Discoverer with a pre-laid mooring system that is designed to allow the vessel to be taken quickly off location in case of typhoon warnings.
The contract covers both equipment and full scope installation services of the system in an offshore location near Broome.
The equipment has been mobilised from Viking Moorings’ yard in Singapore and will soon be operational.
Petter Nilsen, CEO of Viking Moorings, said: “Viking Moorings has experience of mooring rigs and vessels in the North Sea and can design systems that can withstand extreme weather conditions.”
