I have to admit I have always had a degree of envy for those who have rigid opinions.

In all seriousness, it must make life more comforting.

Unfortunately I always seem to see merit in most arguments.

I know I would never make a general as one needs a degree of conviction that eludes me.

It has been suggested that those who see easy answers to difficult questions just don't understand the question.

I have a brother who is an optimist while I am a pessimist. Of couse I argue that being a pessimist allows me to be surprised on the upside while he can only be disappointed. Of course he rationalises every thing to his way of thinking. If it didn't work this time it will more than make up for it next time etc.

The beauty of optimism or a rigid view is that perserverance will usually achieve its goals. It may not be the best way to get there but get there it probably will while the pessimist or vacillator is still immobilised.

    Sorry, getting too philosophical.
