How true! And guess what. Who at this end of the GFC is richer, and who is poorer? Are the bankers poorer? Are the politicians poorer? Are importer/retailers poorer? On the other hand are workers better off? Will pensioners have the retirement that they 'were expecting'? Will medical costs remain affordable?
One thing that has surfaced from all this, like something that refuses to flush, is that the gaps between the 'haves' and 'have nots' in America is growing exponentially. It's heading down the same path that has segregated the people of Africa.
But I give credit to our everyday people - one thing we have all learned from this, including me, is that we are not so gullible as we once were. We are not so simplistic in accepting being force fed baloney. We are now more educated than ever in history, and we are constantly researching information and collating our views and opinions.
The real danger for our left wing governments is this. A left wing attitude dominates when the majority live very comfortably, with no major financial hardships and live with a great quality of life. That makes for a very smooth, hiccup free lifestyle, where 'the people' happily pick up the tabs for the unfortunate. That has what we have come to accept life as 'the normal'. We cannot accept anything other than that.
Enter the world where the majority fall below the poverty line. Where the majority become angry, disillusioned and focused. Would they tolerate more immigration? Would they tolerate bankers getting massive bonuses, even after being bailed out? Would they accept political spin? Would they accept political unaccountability? Would they sit back, and witness the 'haves' of their nation continue to bleed their country dry from real jobs, and at the same time become richer?
Once the majority become disenchanted and focused, then the biggest danger is when they become one. America better increase the size of its military, but rather than keeping the force in the middle east, they will be more useful if sent back home for when the day of reckoning dawns.
But that is just garbage, because the world we live in always has a happy ending, just like Hollywood movies.
