I find the fruit start forming at the same time the new leafs start shooting, also find best not to water too much when fruiting as it prevents the fruit getting sweet.
Planted some tomato seedlings in the front yard where the chooks can't get to them and some water melons. I had put some rock melon seeds in but nothing, will see if bunnings has seedlings
