Mate I've read the email of the complaining digger.
He did have a gripe about air support... the fact is they did have air support during that battle... in fact, it had done a couple of runs. Fact is they did have mortar support (which wasnt used) at the ready as well. Fact is they had light armour providing support.
His main gripe was the rules of engagement. The support assets at their disposal werent maximised due to, in his view, the fear of collateral damage.
