Don't forget that the biggest winner from the rise in POG is Crescent (and therefore FML). As a high cost marginal producer, a rise in $100 makes a HUGE difference to their profitability.
No matter what, FML will end up with these assets, either from partial or full takeover, or by picking over the bones if they call in their loans.
This was always an opportunistic punt, while CRE were desparate for cash. Looks to have been great timing to me.
