This being the case did he not think it was warranted to formally refute the rumour via an ASX issued Ann? Particularly considering the rumour was splashed across every tabloid and news site in Australia and the UK and resulted in a sharp drop in share price and major souring of investor sentiment. I would think an official full-throated refutation would have led to a recovery of at least a couple of percent and perhaps even provided a catalyst for a small and temporary trend reversal.
