"I wonder why that is when it is the ONLY action we can take to reduce the impact of wildfires"
Is it the ONLY action we can take????????
The germans have dropped the amount of ground cover burnt by over 80% with their firewatch system
nothing to do with hazard reduction burns in that percentage
if one incorporated vehicle movement and identification systems WITH firewatch - one would nail the majority of arsonists rapidly -------
nothing to do with hazard reduction there
naturally one would do hazard reduction as well - and, there's work needed there as I am sure we will be told =========== yet again and again
there's only a couple of points -- as far as impact goes - I am sure there's a lot more that can be done
of course we have all this post mortem stuff after every large fire -
ho hum -- for some bedtime reading - read the report and recommendations made in the House of Representatives Committee on bushfires - done 2003 --- it's all in there ---------- no need for any Royal commissions -- that report covered the field --------- except for technological updates
Morrison didn't read it apparently - because it's all new to him so he says
Howard didn't read it either - even though it was his government ---
arrh well - back to the politics until the next disaster I guess
