I believe the only true way to control the outbreak is with a complete world wide isolation and shut down of trade for 3 weeks. (Apart from essential services with full disease protection.)
It’s a big hit, but better than a slow bleeding death that could result in something like this anyways.
It seems too many countries are incapable of the Chinese response to the outbreak.
China isolated a portion of the country equivalent to Australia’s population. The response was sharp and hard. No excuses. Yet still not able to prove full containment.
How can other countries such as the US replicate that effort when the boss DT tells the world its nothing to worry about, “Most people can still go to work like usual and not even know they have it”. This is true but you’d be responsible for spreading a disease capable of killing millions of ppl.
What’s been demonstrated so far is the fundamental issue with the broader response. Some countries will not apply strict control, Australia guilty - allowing an infected person to do grocery shopping after testing positive! (In other countries you’d be added on the death stats for behaviour like that)
China are the pioneers/thoroughbred for CDC. If no other country can replicate their response, we don’t have a chance.
I think as a global effort we’ve missed our chances for controlling COVID-19, all we can do now is stock up on toilet paper and rice and wait it out. Hopefully in 12 months and a reduction of 3,000 - 200,000,000,000 of the worlds population we will have it under control via vaccination (if that even a possibility)
