Heaps and Heaps of reading and most importantly gaining experience over the years. Everyday you learn something, some you take on board others you just ignore. It is my dream job. With day trading you can be successful one minute and lose the next. The main thing is manage risk which allows you to then be consistant in your approach. It is not as easy as many would think - stress, loneliness to name a few but it gives you freedom unlike any other job. The advantages far outweight the disadvantages. You can work from anywhere in the world and spend time with your family.
