That's what is so special here. Samo is closer to the sand source, giving us the thicker reservoir. Yet still above the prolific source rocks (as proven by South Fan) , giving us plenty of oil.....as Cath said "we have ticked off the oil and the reservoirs which gives us the 50% COS."
As you correctly point out...we could have the same (or more) depth in the column, say 100m but have a solid 80m of net pay....
I hope the BOP is extra strong.... looking at the graphic, this could be a real gusher.
Wouldn't that be great....fewer producer wells and no initial injectors.
In any event, it certainly has better looking potential metrics than SNE. Just need the cap to be holding.
Makes me think of when I was in Vietnam. We used to get to some of the beaches for a bit of fun and there were some beaches that had blobs of heavy oil along the high tide mark which sometimes were covered in some sand and you had to make sure you didn't lie on them. We were told by the locals that it had seeped from the offshore oil fields and was always there....
So I googled to see if any tourists visiting The Gambia beaches were complaining about it......in other words is there any ongoing proof of Samo (or any offshore fields) having a leaky seal....
I couldn't find anything at all....
