Sydney - Tuesday - August 29: (RWE Australian Business News) - Rebel Sport Ltd (ASX code: REB) lifted net profit 38.2 per cent to a record $22 million in the 12 months ended July 1 from $15.92 million for the previous year. Sales revenue rose 17.1 per cent to $371.22 million from $316.9 million. On a same-store basis, sales increased 10.8 per cent. Basic earnings per share were 28.00c, up from 20.66c. Final dividend has been increased from 5c to 7.5c, fully franked, payable on December 15 to shareholders registered November 24. Total payout for the year is 15c, up from 10c. During the year, Rebel Sport opened six new stores - in Midland Gate and Rockingham (WA), Shepparton and Fountain Gate (VIC), Carindale (QLD) and Mt Druitt (NSW). The company closed one store in Darwin (NT) and relocated its Campbelltown and Penrith (NSW) stores, bringing the total number of Rebel Sport stores to 61. Also, two new Glue stores were opened in Tuggerah (NSW), bringing the total number of Glue stores to 10.

"We have a very busy year ahead, with the opening of a further two stores before Christmas and the continued refurbishment of existing stores," managing director Mr Stephen Heath said.
