"MML as my understanding is it has been heavily shorted so may see some short covering."
Not much difference in MML's short position. 800,000 more since mid July but still less than in Jan this year.
As at 22 Aug 3.31% of MML shorted. KCN has more at 4.27% and Regis 8.2%. PRU has less at 2.5%, NST 1.6%. Some others have less again so not that much shorted on MML relatively speaking. Two weeks before the qtrly was released, MML was at 2.95% or 6.12mill shares compared to 6.89mill now so around 800,000 more shorts since mid July but at 3.3% it’s less than it’s been earlier this year. In January it was 7.29mill shares or 3.5%.Might be a bit premature to count on a short covering rally. Shorts could increase much further than where they are at now, just look at RRL with its 8.2%.
Probably need a good reason for the bulk of the shorts to want to reverse.
