Year always good, average and bad. Bad isn’t as bad as it could be, which is good
Good (in order) = PAC.AX; HFG.DSE; AAL.AX; GQG.AX; GNDQ.AX;GHHF.AX Average (in order) = OXLC.NDQ (but great monthly dividends); IBKR.NYS; VISM.AX; VDHG.AX; VGE.AX: IIND.AX Bad (in order) = BRI.AX; VPC.LSE (quarterly div have covered capital loss, bordering on average)
One investment category not mentioned above has been start-ups. Two out of four starting to grow significantly now. It is great to watch how these businesses have grown over the years and utilise AI on their platforms.
I think blockchain is more of a backend tool and will make data more available to public. This will be critical for the success of Artificial General Intelligence, automate processes and other general business. Hopefully with Elon Musk in DOGE we will see a lot more of this in US government and applied globally - this will mean a minimum of 5 years growth for this sector. This will be where blockchain will be built out and targeting investments that adopt and create tools will be good areas to investigate.
I am reading Lean AI by Lomit Patel at the moment. The application of AI is to automate marketing campaigns and experiment with different messaging to target markets. Which ones help scale quicker and lowers Cost of Acquiring Customers (CAC) are how this helps and stop inefficient marketing campaigns. One business I have watched this year that has benefited from this approach is DAVE.NDQ
Using AI over company data to retain customers and improve profit margins will be interesting this year too. companies that use the AI concepts and those that build the tools for companies to adopt.
The one company I think does this well is Amazon. Microsoft tries to build solutions for customers but I don’t think they are adopted well - think how many people fully utilise Excel spreadsheets.
I need to read more on how AI is applied for wealth management and the Software Development Lifecycle.
Hope you have had a great year too and would be interested on your thoughts on above.
