welcome @Plague. good post on the magellan flows. looks like it is shaping up for another ugly quarter.
there is clearly people issues at magellan. governance is poor with chairman and CIO the same person. chris mackay used to be chairman and stepped down in 2013. i believe there was some friction between chris and hamish in the past, and while he is now managing MFF i do wonder if he may step back into the frame either as chairman or perhaps if hamish steps back as CIO and chris is the new face of magellan. the company needs to move pretty quickly on sorting out leadership and also product fees to stabilise outflows.
many magellan holders have drunk the kool aid over the years and will never acknowledge the issues for what they are.
at this point many magellan employees wealth is evaporating, but also too those of new barrenjoy employees lured over with magellan stock will be underwater. there will be forces acting from all directions to get the share price up. there will be some tough decisions to be made.
