A new citizen committee to submit Sayona Mining to a BAPE

A new citizens' committee is born in La Motte. The main objective of the Nouvelle Vision committee is to submit the Authier project, from the mining company Sayona Mining, to the Bureau d'audiences publiques en environnement (BAPE).

In a press presentation Wednesday morning at La Motte, Nouvelle Vision believes that at a certain moment, there seemed to be an absence of democracy, hence the creation of the new committee.
This new committee wants to give a voice to the citizens of La Motte and believes that at some point, citizens no longer have the right to speak.
It is said that there is a silent majority that supports the project, but we will see if it is true. If the majority is there, at some point, we will bend to the consequences, but we have seen so far that this is not the case and it encourages us to do what , says one of the word of the file, Paul Lafrenière.

According to a petition made by Nouvelle Vision, 40% of Lamottois of voting age are in favor of holding a BAPE. According to Mr. Lafrenière, it is about 130 people out of 310 citizens over 18 years of La Motte.
According to the same survey, 50 people have even spoken out against this mining operation. Mr. Lafrenière also denounces the position of the municipal council of La Motte.
We do not want to blame them because they want economic development, but a mine is 17, while an esker is forever.

A second esker protection committee

This is a second committee that wants to protect the esker, after the esker Protection Committee.
According to Paul Lafrenière, this one brings together more people from Amos. This is not a bad thing, according to him, but it is the citizens of La Motte who will live with it, so we had to regroup and make our way , he said.

"Mine is in a hurry" - New Vision Committee Members

The decision to set up a new committee also came from the mining's eagerness to begin its project and move into operation mode.
They consider it shocking that the Mining Act allows for the establishment of a mine anywhere, even near an esker , says Paul Lafrenière.
Nouvelle Vision intends to continue the process with the regional elected officials so that the project is submitted to the BAPE.
