What happened to the gold price overnight was a complete joke. What it demonstrates is that at the moment, the price of gold is still driven by hedge funds and speculators using charts and derivatives. So, if one is going to invest in gold or gold shares, they have to take a long term view and be prepared to bear the pain when the value tanks short to medium term. I personally don't like the pain.
