There is definitely a high potential for the USD to crash which will affect current near record AUD gold prices. However if the USD crashes, the gold price will rise substantially and offset most of the AUD issues. Either way, my portfolio is balanced in a way to protect myself from these possibilities. I have RSG and PDI as my African Goldie’s tied to the USD as well as all my Aussie gold stocks. The best thing you can do is be prepared for all scenarios imo. African Goldie’s are already heavily discounted to the Aussie counterparts due to the markets obsession with geopolitical risk. Therefore a lot of value in African gold stocks now. A lot of people do not realise how much risk our western gold companies have added in recent years with political problems, red and green tape and lack of investment. Most of the gold investment recently has been coming from Asia and the Arab states. The risk separation between western nations and developing countries should not be as wide as they are now. I think this is destined to change soon imo.
