It is interesting that the council is considering in-road sensors. These make for easier and more precise speed detection as well as confirming which vehicle / lane the infringement is taking place in. They are, however, more expensive to install, need maintenance and have to be replaced when the road is re-surfaced.

I was pretty sure the Redflex equipment could provide an adequate monitoring system with the radar sensors which are easier to install and maintain.

Is it a co-incidence that Scottsdale is the US base of Redflex Traffic Systems?
