I don't make excuses for either political party but I do know they respond to pressure. Pressure to stop building coal fired power station and direct funding to base load geothermal makes environmental sense right now and will make economic sense too just as soon as carbon dioxide pollution becomes heavily taxed. Taxes from CO2 could build the DC lines to the Cooper basin and take away the need for coal fired power.

I suggest writing to your local pollie. It could make all the difference.
