The first few batches that I bought in 100 ounces x 2 cost $60 extra for postage and insurance. That was when I was buying at below AUD 10 so the cost of insurance might be increased by now. They would, I guess, send any amount but to post as one parcel they are confined to a little over 6kg.
I forget the reason for this but it sounded sensible at the time.
For Australian citizens they sell parcels of less than $5000 under what they call the Pert Mint Shop Programme. Some times you get someone answering the phone who will tell you that you can only buy a minimum of $5,000. That is for overseas transactions - just mention the Perth Mint Shop Programme or ask to talk to Gordon Smith. Gordon is very helpful and seems to know the business backwards.
I guess that could change at any time but it was still operating okay just 2 weeks ago.
