Not wanting to prolong this debate, but mention of Vietnam and capabilities of armies caused me to recall something. In Vietnam, the soldiers that the Vietnamese feared the most was not the Australians nor the Yanks but the Koreans. South Korea had about 50,000 troops in action there for a period of 10 years, arriving before and leaving after Australia, and lost close to 5000 men. They were considered ferocious by the Vietnamese who became reluctant to face them in combat.
