Either somebody wants to get in real cheap before what may be a massive announcement Monday, or somebody wants to affect the vote by closing the disparity between KAH placement price and SP, or somebody thinks a deal will be done with RIO that will muddy the waters. Speaking of waters, mine tell me that it's either of the first two. It's worth noting that the shorting is on the last day before the meeting and is clearly being done be an entity or entities that have the necessary clout and technology to do it. Therefore it begs the question, why wait until today when it could have been shorted any time since the postponement.
