Able seaman Laura Whittie, who helped rescue assylum seekersfrom a sinking boat in 2001, gave a human angle to the *children - overboard* controversy last week. The 22 -year old former gunner on HMAS Adalaide told her home - town newspaper NO CHILD was thrown overboard from the boat known as SIEV 4 (suspected illegal entry vessel 4 ) An asylum seeker who held a child over the water was simply begging for the girl to be rescued.
