Morning all,
Further equity hedges closing out must be imminent
The last time hedges were closed out 1.5 months ago, the AUD was 92.5.
Since this time, interest rate differentials have closed considerably due to mainly:
- Good GDP data reported for the Sep quarter in the US and
- Much better than expected unemployment data in the US for November
The strength of the AUD in the last few weeks is not because of inflating interest rate differentials but moreso because of increasing commodity prices. Just look at the share prices of BHP and RIO now!!
Unfortunately, the information we have been provided with is not transperant given we do not know the following:
- The number of equity hedges that remain outstanding
- The forward rate required to close out these hedges
- The dollar amount of these hedges
- The maturity date of these hedges
If its good enough for CNP, a major unitholder to know all this data, then so should we. We have the same rights as CNP.
We should be able to calculate with some sort of accuracy as to when the next set of hedges are to be closed out
People at CER, I know you are reading this, please ensure this info is provided to us in the Dec09 results announcement.
I believe this is a reasonable request
Cheers
