They are asleep to there being no genuine Republican candidate though.
Trump’s Republican economic credentials compare with Malcolm Turnbull’s conservative economic credentials. ie non-existent. Both men in the wrong party because neither country has a centrist party these days. If they were UK candidates, they would happily exist in what’s currently called the Liberal Democrat Party in terms of pure economic policy alone, where they would never have troubled anyone.
