Litigation support to minorities of joint venture partner, Westrip, further update.

Greenland Minerals and Energy Limited (‘GGG’, or the ‘Company’) wishes to provide further
information in regard to its announcement on Tuesday 21 July, 2009 in regard to the above matter.

The action being taken by shareholders of Westrip Holdings Limited (‘Westrip’) is a derivative
claim on behalf of Westrip against directors of Westrip, claiming that they have breached various
duties owed to Westrip and that they have sought to divest Westrip of various assets belonging to it
including various assets which Westrip acquired from the Company as part of the joint venture
arrangements. The matter is being heard in the UK with relevant injunctions being sought to
preserve the position while the matter is resolved.
GGG has taken the view that, given the significance of the Kvanefjeld project it is important to
ensure a stable joint venture partner and, based on leading Counsel’s advice in the UK, considers its
support of this claim offers the best prospect of achieving that aim.
Although the Company has decided to financially support the claimants in their proceedings, the
level of financial support will be continually reviewed by the board of GGG over time.
