    Some time ago I had power go out, older house so had the old ceramic block with fuse wire. Hmm checked them but no burnt fuse wire.

    Would not have done it but was late Sunday afternoon, un-screwed the panel and noticed a wire going into the fuse block was burnt. Strange, would have though fuse wire would go first.

    Well me thinks I can fix that, Turn off the mains and open the panel further for better access. Bugger got a bloody bit jolt, seem I had accidentally flicked the mains switch back on as I open the panel.

    I don't recommend it but old electrician's trick to test if a wire is live is to touch it with the back of your finger, that way if it's live your finger will curl in away from it. Seriously don't try it
