They landed a hercules with a 25 tonne dozer there in 1967 on a ice runway guessing the hercules was on wheels not skids.
Back then a 3200 foot long runway was also built near lake hope, do not know if it was also the ice runway .
Fixed wing is invariably cheaper than a chopper if you can get it in and the article will fit in the hold , (can not sling it like under a chopper)
