I disagree. Petroleum products aren't only relevant to automobiles; i.e. solar cells are mounted on polyester backing sheets. Polyester is a petroleum based product.
Pretty much every form of ocean transport is engine driven now. Engines need relatively cheap fuel, and every piece of moving machinery needs lubrication - both requirements are almost always derived from crude oil. The millions of vessels that ply the waterways of the world won't be going back to wind power until oil is well and truly unavailable, which could be many centuries from now.
