Yes, the government of the day has the power to appoint the chairman and board members of FF, the high court judges, nominate a person to the Queen to be the GG, etc. But that is all. Those people appointed are expected to perform interdependently.
Now, in politics, it can happen that the government of the day interferes in the running of some independent bodies such as the FF for some political gain.
But there is just no evidence to support nosnitap's suspicion that somehow the FF had not acted independently when it sold most of its Telstra shares.
