When the relevant State and federal Govt cannot support coal as well as cope with the cost of CV19 then we might see the collapse quicken.
They are now grasping at gas at the next fossil fuel to hang onto. It will be OK as a transition fuel but won't compete with low cost of renewable longer term.
The focus on infrastructure is the key to unlocking further energy transition to renewables IMO and where part of the stimulus should be aimed when rebuilding money is injected into the economy. Sensible infrastructure stimulus packages will benefit the rural and city communities by increasing rural investment and bringing down the cost of energy to consumers everywhere. The cash cycling effect will be doubled or tripled in effect IMO.
