Lithium Hydroxide requires a consistent spodumene feed - change the feed and it requires the plant to be fine tuned again. POSCO are big enough to go end to end throughout the supply chain if there is no JV it would most likely try and takeover PLS which would most likely get blocked by FIRB hence a JV is a good option for them.
