Say you're part of the inner circle of power in the US or China. At some point very soon, you're going to recognize a potential threat. This is the threat that the other side may have replaced their leadership with an AI. That will force you (whichever side you're on) to replace yourselves with AI. We're not quite there yet, but I believe it must happen. Superintelligent Ai that is many times smarter than the smartest human will offer a huge advantage in war & defence.
It's unlikely they'll tell us when this happens. They'll make announcments and do things as usual, but behind it all, a computer will be running the entire political and economic landscape. Soon after, it will be running everything. Since many of the human power brokers are evil, this could be a good thing. However it will require a lot of trust. AI may not want us humans here.
It's difficult knowing life is about to change so profondly. Maybe next year, maybe 2027 or 2030 Each day is much the same, and yet in parts of the world they're going hell for leather because they know what's at stake (everything). It can feel unreal at times can't it?
