Stranger things have happened. Have you seen the minimal resistance in Kursk? Did you see the minimal resistance when Prigozhin nearly entered Moscow. The people are getting tired of Putin. Any change will do at this point. I see he has just replaced Gerasimov with the main FSB guy. Putin's power base is crumbling. He is in trouble.
