@FiveCent
In my opinion this bodes well for all graphite hopefuls in Tanzania, and I'm quite pleased to see my other Tanzanian graphite investment in WKT start production and ship their first concentrate shipment from Lindi Jumbo mine last week. This result paves the way and demonstrate that graphite mining by Aussie companies is possible in Tanzania.
SH Trust is not a factor for successfully securing funding for Bunyu. Market dynamics are the key driver (refer to articles in previous post). That is, if the demand is there from the majors (being countries/governments or large battery or graphite manufacturers) then the capital markets should start to push money towards the development of graphite projects and funding comes.
Regarding Grant funding - I've previously shared my assessment in this post https://hotcopper.com.au/posts/73501158/single, and landed on 4 possible outcomes:
- Zero case: No funding received from any application
- Low : funding received for Grants 1 and 2 - circa AUD$5.5m
- Medium: funding received for Grants 1 and 2 - circa ADU$5.5m, partial funding from Grant 3 circa $USD40m / AUD$60m. total ~AUD$65.5m
- High: funding received across all Grant applications in full. AUD$150m
I'm currently leaning somewhere between Low and Medium, but who knows. PC did achieve a USD$60m grant from the US government when he was heading up the chemicals division at BASF.
And re Tanzanian Government knowing about Volt's plans and the status of potential financiers I am personally pleased that they are in dialogue and have some level of awareness of how it's progressing. In fact seeing the Tanzanian governments' endorsement of the project was music to my ears when I read over the weekend. They will be a a key business partner in Bunyu if this gets all the way to production, so happy for them to be advocates for the project.
I think SH will get the official update from the company sooner or later, but as I mentioned in an earlier post there are ASX guidelines as to what can be officially announced, and for all we know this might be under review with the ASX.
