markets are being ruled by fear at the moment. i picked last night as an up day for only one reason .. a fall as big as it was the previous night was going to see a bounce the next day, people looking for a bottom, a dead cat bounce to trade. a bounce was almost inevitable.
now its going down again, may well see a fall of over 100 points tonight again. the markets are spooked by the fear of further looming interest rates, a slowing of consumer confidence, and general jitters among many other factors.
temporary though, once the market finds it bottom, it'll rage like a bull again. would not be outside of the realms of possibility to see the market finish the year well over 12,000. I personally don't believe it will, but its certaily possible.
