The price of gold is not important,it is only an indicator of the commodity market which is much larger; throw in the bond market and then you are talking big money. The price of gold indcates that there is a shortage of raw materials caused by more consumers coming into the market. I have seen it written that it is not possible for the Chinese to get to the same ratio of car ownership as the Germans because the raw materials aren't available. Something will have to give as few inventions will overcome that problem. The next boom sector?.......making the materials we have go further.
