adding to the above excellent posts here is how I assess a stock..........its a rough rule of thumb but it gives me some indication of where fair value should be ....... then add or subtract due to the latest news or the market as  whole.....this was done a few weeks back when the share price was much lower...... .. it is based on the assumption that a stock will generally return to its median average pe ............. many things will vary this of course ......ie. anticipated lower or higher profit growth, or the company's improved status  ........so I get as a ball park figure  - $2.96
