A few big differences between Yowie and your examples. The main two being Yowie is in the food sector not just a toy, I'm pretty sure chocolate isn't a fad. And Yowie has the potentional to tap into any current fad eg: angry birds, which will keep people collecting and interested for when the new Yowie characters and animals roll out half yearly or whatever the case will be.
