As a long term business user of nearmap, todays announcement just reinforces their unique product and how valuable they can be for business. Ever since the pay wall went up in Australia, the business has grown which just shows that paying for there product returns more for the bottom line. As an MD for a land surveying company, we rely on nearmap for our operations imensly. Even if the economy went into recession and wotk slowed right down, nearmap would be one of the last products we would cut. I think its a no brainer that the US will follow AU footsteps. It might take a few years but it will. I can't wait for the 3d captures that hypercamera 2 will deliver. This will open up a new world in the property development/town planning industry.
