Oops. I also meant to point out that a lot of technical approaches to free float would also exclude strategic shareholdings in addition to escrowed shares. (Eg major shareholders, founders/directors etc). This is in fact the most sensible way to approach the concept of free float which is fundamentally about liquidity.
