Hi @vmp
Regarding my post last night and if there was any substance to it definitely check with FYI and they would be happy to clarify.
But I did get it in writing from the most reliable source you could probably get at FYI - the CEFC have recommended FYI be registered as a project of significance.
I think Sco Mo's announcement will prove to be a huge plus to the two most advanced HPA projects in Australia - FYI and A4N. ATC's strategy will miss out on funding as they are over in Malaysia as we know. And their biggest issue is funding - quite ironic.
FYI are doing so much in the research area with universitives etc over in WA and we are contributing to the EV Battery sector in Australia.
In my view that will get some sort of funding for us.
Just remember we aren't giving up a % of the project. It is a JV with Aloca Australia.
So whatever the percentage (I am guessing between 40% and 60% Alcoa) then that arrangement will be the HPA venture forward for FYI.
Again, we can only go on one plant of 8,000tpa with the current CAPEX and OPEX numbers.
In my view FYI were progressing to be a successful producer of HPA as it was.
So for us to just simply do a JV with Alcoa there has to be massive value adds.
Again it's just speculation but if what I'm hearing is correct you need top broaden your mind much wider than a JV consisting of 1, 8,000tpa plant at the current CAPEX and OPEX. There are other things being worked on and the view will be to make it a HPA Global leader or at worst mone of the leaders. Time will tell on this of course but if FYI can see something much bigger they can be a part of in the HPA space then of course we'd jump at it.
Would the government be happy to tip some funding towards the EV Sector in Australia where HPA will prove to be key to future technology - you bet.
And the deal will be done on NPV for the overall JV deal. FYI will remain a completely separate listed entity as we are now.
The whole idea of Sco Mo's key areas for funding was to be less reliant upon China and more self sufficient in key areas. I hope it proves to be significant for us!
HPA - what a sector to be in and we have all jumped in on the ground floor. the rest of this year and 2021 prove to be transformational in the sector.
Have a great day all.
