"The enriched fuel provided by GLE would be from a domestic (US) Company; lawmakers, military leaders, etc., believe this is necessary to ensure supply. " Not sure where you get you info from Robey, but looking at the imports of Uranium today, it certainly doesn't correspond with what you are saying?
Read the above one more time and you will note that I said `enriched fuel’ not `uranium’. A bit of research on the web will give you instances of lawmakers and government officials expressing the need for a domestic company to do enrichment of uranium for the nation’s fuel needs. And with a little more digging and/or research you will find reports of innuendo made by military personnel and/or military leaders.

“Regarding the ‘write-downs by Cameco’ So you think that fact that Cameco could lose it's portion (22%) of exports of Uranium to the US as being trivial and something that Cameco doesn't even give a second thought to?? Don't think so!”
Quite the contrary; Cameco’s business as it presently exists will evolve just as technology advances. It appears obvious that Cameco recognized the affect laser enrichment would have on uranium supply/demand in the US, (US only, for the present and near future) and I also believe they took into consideration the `partially depleted/processed uranium’ available that could be economically processed with the laser technology. That said; it looks like Cameco ensured their future prosperity and their existence as well, by investing in and becoming a partner in the laser enrichment technology. Plus, Cameco may become the primary supplier of uranium, for GLE, in the future – But for now, as I stated, they are now benefiting from their GLE investment by using it as a tax write-off.
