    Changing gas to an oil equivalent is generally done on an energy equivalent basis, not a revenue equivalent basis. Some companies will do it on a revenue basis, but they will always tell you if they do. The ones that don't tell you anything will be doing it on an energy equivalent basis as it gives you a higher number to report.

    Generally 6,000 cubic feet of gas equals one BOE. Gas sells at about USD$3.5 per 1,000 cubic feet. Therefore a BOE that is gas is only worth USD$21 compared to a barrel of oil which is worth USD$95.
