The Kalina plant in Germany used brine from a geothermal well.The hot brine transferred heat through a heat exchanger to an ammonia/water cycle
that flashed to steam and was converted to power through a Siemens vapor turbine.
It worked perfectly but the Geothermal brine also provided district heating in the town and I believe it closed because there was insufficient flow to do both and district heating won out.The salts in geothermal wells tend to clog the system so removing the salts is very important.
Each geothermal well has different characteristics giving varying temp and flow rates.
The fact that the KPO system can use lower temp brines opens the opportunity of plugging it onto existing high temp power units and using the brine again through a kalina cycle before it is reinjected.This is a potentially huge market that will open up if the can modularise the syhstem.
