I honestly think this "offer" from DRD or whovever came out of the blue with a take it or leave it approach. MLI are certainly not the suitor and heads of agreement can be done over a day or two with some phone calls to major shareholders.
Other negotiations such as that with the SAEDF or for an AIMS listing must be continued as the normal course of action regardless and happens over months.
I management were planning on an imminent AIMS listing but out of left field DRD who is looking for cheap reserve replacement said "how about it". Fairly quickly MLI have to bump uglies with either this new suitor or AIMS for the money to proceed with stage 2 plant contracts and purchases. If they go AIMS they may not get a second crack at the easy option.
Hopefully we find out soon and nobody gets screwed! My ass is still sore from SBS.
