I complained to ASIC last year about the large number of tiny trades occurring in one stock. There were trades of 1 to 5 shares every few minutes. I was told that it was a fairly new trading strategy in Australia that was used in USA for a while. They make from hundreds to thousands of trades a day and it was not illegal and would probably become more common in the future.
