Gamze Seckin, Ph.D.

Introducing Gamze Seckin, Ph.D. to the Syntonic team [1]. Gary is not messing around regarding the streaming service it seems. He appears to have poached her directly from T-Mobile to manage the technical delivery of the service Syntonic are putting together. She has a stellar resume, including 15 years of Telecom experience, 6 patents and a Fulbright scholarship.

What i find great about her is that she was part of a team that developed Vidiator, a privately owned audiovisual streaming company formed in 2002 [2]. They were well ahead of their time. I can't seem to find much information about them, given their private nature, but i do not think they are that large anymore (could be wrong, their LinkedIn page suggests they are a big deal).

What is great about her is that she is bringing an absolute ton of experience in mobile streaming experience to the company, hence why she is the manager. She's also bringing her handy patents with her which may provide us with some IP protection. Though i'm happy to be corrected on this as IP stuff can be tedious. Just read through her innovations, she has intimately collaborated with people who now work in high level positions from Apple to Qualcomm. She's definitely a whale. It's also a great sign that she was working at T-Mobile right up until she started working at Syntonic. She must have seen huge potential.

My thoughts (speculation/grain of salt):


I wouldn't be surprised if landing her allowed for the accelerated development of OTT streaming. I know Gary and Rahul developed RealPlayer and all, but Gamze has literally built this platform before. Great news all around, no time has been wasted.

Pretty comfortable right now with how the company are progressing. This OTT streaming service is going to be solid IMO. They are bringing the equivalent of free-to-air TV to mobile. Disappointed at the share price though, i'm not going to lie.
